Job description

If you want a front of house job that turns into a proper career rather than a five year stint on the same desk, read on.

A luxury serviced office provider in the City of London is hiring Client Experience Assistants across several of its City sites. There are a few of these roles live now. Same job, different addresses, all in the City, so there is a good chance of landing somewhere that suits your commute.

The unusual part is what they are hiring on. Not years of experience, not a specific background. They are hiring on personality. Warmth, presence, and the sort of person who notices the small thing everyone else walks past. Everything else they will teach you.

The role
You are the face of the building. Reception is the heart of it, so you will be welcoming clients and visitors, running the front desk, answering calls and emails, handling post and correspondence, and setting up meeting rooms so they are ready before anyone has to ask.

But the front desk is only part of your day. You will walk the building daily to check every corner is up to standard. You will help clients move in and out of their offices, picking up skills in IT set up and office design along the way. You will plan and run themed events to keep the businesses in your building engaged and looked after. You will get to know your clients, your colleagues, your building and the streets around it well enough to answer almost anything anyone asks you.

It is a varied job in a beautiful environment, and the standard is high and does not move. The clients are some of London's most discerning businesses, and they notice everything.

What's on offer
£26,500 a year to start, with structured increases built in. Your pay is reviewed every three months through your first year, so you are never waiting twelve months to be recognised.

Monday to Friday, daytime hours. Occasionally there is an evening or weekend client event where your support is needed, but the working pattern is stable and predictable, which is rare in front of house work. Permanent and full time from day one.

Training is properly funded and continuous. You will work through their in house learning academy, and they will put you through external qualifications including First Aid and Fire Warden.

The rest of the package:

- Promotion to Team Leader available after your first year
- The option of a head office internship in marketing or sales after year one
- Monthly team nights out
- An annual weekend away with the team
- Discounts at luxury London names including The Shard, Gordon Ramsay Restaurants and The Landmark Hotel
- Season ticket loan
- Employee assistance programme with free counselling sessions
- Birthdays and work anniversaries celebrated properly
- Funded further study
- A paid day each year for volunteering

Progression is the real headline here. Ninety six percent of their staff say they are proud to work there, they have won Workplace of the Year, and they promote from within as a matter of course.

A good number of their current centre managers started exactly where you would be starting. With several buildings across the City and more opening, the route up is genuinely open rather than blocked by someone who is not going anywhere.

What we're looking for
Personality first. Someone genuinely warm with people, calm when three things land at once, well presented, and quietly precise about detail.

Background matters less than you might expect. You might be coming from a hotel reception, a corporate front desk, a members' club or concierge desk, a restaurant floor, a bar, or a high end retail or service role where you looked after customers face to face. If you have been the person guests come to and you handled it well, you are in the frame.

Beyond that: excellent spoken and written English, confident on the phone and on email, comfortable in Microsoft Office, organised enough to juggle a busy desk, an events plan and a building walk round in the same morning, and happy to take ownership rather than wait to be asked.

If you are the sort of person who remembers a regular's name and their coffee order, you already understand this job.

Send your CV across. These are live roles across the City sites and interviews are happening now.
