Hours: 42 hours per week, 5 days out of 7
Accommodation: Self-catering live-in available
Location: High-volume residential site

Overview
Off to Work are seeking a dedicated and organised Sous Chef to join a busy catering team within a residential environment. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality meals in a fast-paced setting, while maintaining exceptional standards of food safety, hygiene, and customer service.
You will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appetising meals and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring all catering provision meets required standards.
  
The Role
You will work as part of a team of 5–6 chefs, preparing meals for students and adults at a large activity centre. The kitchen produces in excess of 1,200 meals per day, making this a fast-paced and demanding role suited to chefs with a proactive, can-do attitude.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Preparing and delivering high-quality meals at scale
  • Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
  • Ensuring all kitchen stores are well organised, stocked, and managed
  • Completing and maintaining all due diligence records accurately
  • Supporting a positive working environment and upholding high team standards
  
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a chef
  • Experience in high-volume environments such as schools, hospitals, or contract catering
  • Level 2 Food Safety qualification
  • Strong understanding of allergen management
  • Proven ability to maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with a team-focused approach
  • Basic IT skills (e.g. email, spreadsheets, kitchen systems)
  
Desirable Experience
  • Experience within a residential or education-based catering setting
  • Experience working with children or young people
