Off to Work are delighted to bring an exciting Café Manager opportunity to Edinburgh's hospitality community. We are working in partnership with our industry leading catering management client who operate hospitality venues in Scotland's most iconic tourism venues.

With a sharp focus on quality and consistent standards, the successful Café Manager candidate will oversee all aspects of the daily operation, serving carbon neutral coffee, unforgettable afternoon tea's and freshly prepared, delicious & nutritious breakfast, lunches and light bites.

The successful Café Manager candidate will demonstrate proven success in the efficient management of high volume, quality café operations and effective leadership of the team.

Responsibilities will include:

General

  • To oversee the operational function of the unit.

  • To ensure all enquiries and client feedback are managed professionally and in a timely manner.

  • To continuously work towards improving sales, service and product.

  • Leading and motivating the team through ongoing evaluations, listening, training and mentoring.

  • Financial and budget management; including forecasting, cost control and forward planning.

  • To ensure stock levels are in line with budget.

Financial

  • Working within the budget for the site.

  • Produce a monthly PNL; forecasted 3 months in advance.

  • Work to costed rota that is in line with budget.

  • Track labour daily through an onsite labour tracker.

  • Complete company systems to the desired level.

Customer Service

  • Ensuring an excellent level of service is provided to all customers and clients.

  • Dealing with any complaints or issues in an effective, timely manner.

  • Monitoring and reviewing customer comments; implementing procedures to effectively improve service standards.

  • Investigating any complaints and/or comments; ensuring that corrective and/or remedial action is taken where relevant.

  • Having a presence on site throughout the day especially at peak times to identify or solve issues.

  • Ensuring speedy and efficient service with a friendly attitude.

Health & Safety/Food Safety & Security

  • Ensuring all health & safety procedures are completed; reporting any potential hazards immediately to the relevant department as well as taking any necessary action.

  • Complying with all food safety and health & safety regulations including company policies.

  • Enforcing sanitary practices for general cleanliness.

  • Identifying any security issues and taking appropriate action to implement solutions where necessary.

Communication

  • Liaising with your colleagues and peers in a professional manner at all times.

  • Reporting back to senior managers to ensure compliance in line with company procedures.

  • Maintaining up-to-date and detailed knowledge of the company’s products, services and procedures.

  • Taking responsibility for coordinating all communications relevant to your role.

  • Contributing to strategic projects or group initiatives as and when required.
