Catering General Manager
Independent Prep School

Salary: £50,000 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Catering General Manager to join a prestigious independent prep school in Sussex.
This is a hands-on role within a busy operation, where standards are exceptionally high.
You will lead catering services within a well-renowned independent school, where quality, professionalism and reputation are paramount.
We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic Catering General Manager with ambition and a “nothing is impossible” attitude, capable of overseeing all operational duties and delivering excellence within a fast-paced environment.
The Role
You will have full responsibility for the operational, financial and service delivery of the catering operation, leading an on-site team and delivering outstanding, diverse and varied food offers for pupils, staff and visitors, alongside a busy hospitality and events operation (internal and external).
Working closely with senior school stakeholders, you will ensure the service consistently meets — and exceeds — expectations.

Key Responsibilities
- Full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control
- Deliver consistently high food and service standards across dining, hospitality and events
- Ensure full compliance to food safety, health & safety and company procedures
- Build strong relationships with client and key stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement in quality, service and customer satisfaction
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven catering management experience within the education sector (essential)
- Experience in independent, private or high-end school environments
- Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills
- Hands-on leadership style with excellent communication skills
- Passion for food, service excellence and team development
- Professional, adaptable and resilient under pressure
