Off to Work is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll & HR Assistant to join our London-based team. Reporting into both the Payroll and People teams, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across payroll operations and the full employee lifecycle in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, while also providing high-quality HR administrative support and maintaining excellent employee records.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, while also providing high-quality HR administrative support and maintaining excellent employee records.
What you’ll be doing Payroll Support
- Assisting with payroll processing, including the collection and accurate input of hours, expenses, and pension contributions
- Creating new starters and maintaining payroll records
- Responding to payroll queries via email and phone in a timely and professional manner
- Chasing and resolving outstanding timesheets with clients
- Supporting the smooth and accurate close of payroll each cycle
- Providing administrative support across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, probation, and performance documentation
- Maintaining accurate employee records, contracts, and personnel files, ensuring the HR system is always up to date
- Supporting recruitment activities and attending meetings as required
- Producing HR reports, metrics, and audit documentation
- Assisting with policy updates, process improvements, and wider HR initiatives
- Excellent communication skills, with fluent spoken English and outstanding written English
- CIPD qualification (or currently working towards), with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- A basic understanding of UK employment law
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and HR/payroll systems
- Highly organised, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to work well as part of a team
- Absolute discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information
